I Let TikTok Take Over My Kitchen Deep Clean (and It Actually Worked!)
I’ve always considered myself a bit of a neat freak. You know, the type who finds satisfaction in a spotless countertop and a gleaming sink. But, I’ll admit, there are some cleaning conundrums even my genius mind couldn’t crack. That’s why I love TikTok. Scrolling through the feed, I was amazed at the clever hacks I was missing during my regular cleaning sessions.
For example, my kettle had always seemed impossibly dirty to me. When I saw how simple the cleaning hack was to get rid of that limescale, my mind was just… blown. This inspired me to put TikTok’s viral cleaning hacks to the test and give my kitchen a deep clean. Here’s how it went.
The Baking Soda + Lemon Hack
@home_reimagined How to clean with baking soda and lemon: 🍋let’s remove rust from pots and pans, AND clean stained wood cutting boards! 👏🏼 Day 7 of the Room-by-Room challenge. BONUS! #cleantok #cleaningtiktok #cleaninghacks #diycleaning ♬ Sunroof – Nicky Youre & dazy
First up, I gathered all my rusted pots and stained cutting boards. This TikTok hack sounded simple enough: cut a lemon in half, sprinkle baking soda on the surface, squeeze lemon juice from one half, and use the other half as a scrub. I was skeptical, but after a bit of scrubbing, my cutting boards looked brand new, and my pots and pans were gleaming. It was a surprisingly satisfying process.
Deep Cleaning the Oven

My oven was in desperate need of a deep clean. Regular cleaning solutions hadn’t touched the grime, especially on the inside of the glass door. TikTok’s solution? Lemons and steam (and some other stuff that we’ll get to later). I sliced a couple of lemons, put them in an oven-proof dish with just enough water to cover them, and baked for 15-20 minutes. The steam loosened the grime.
Then, I mixed 2 cups of warm water, 1 cup vinegar, 1/2 cup dishwashing liquid, and 1/4 cup baking soda. I removed the racks, poured some of the mixture into the oven, and scrubbed with a long-handled brush. For the corners and crevices, a toothbrush worked wonders. The result? A sparkling clean oven that looked almost new.

Greasy Kitchen Cabinets
@tanyahomeinspo The difference is incredible 😳 #cleaningtipsandhacks #homehacks #kitchencabinets #kitchenclean #clean ♬ Ultimate life hacks – The Life Bath
My spice cabinets collect a lot of oily fingerprints and when dust particles stick to them, it’s not a good look. Vinyl is thankfully easy to clean, so I mixed warm water and dish soap and grabbed a scrubbing brush. After a little effort, the cabinets were spotless. This hack was quick, easy, and incredibly effective.
Getting Limescale Off the Kettle
@byrubbia Super easy way to clean your kettle. #fyp #cleaningtips #cleaninghacks #kettlecleaning #russelhobbs #descaling ♬ Walking in the Air – Muspace Lofi
I have a glass kettle, and limescale buildup was making it look awful. TikTok recommended filling the kettle halfway with water, adding 150ml of white vinegar, bringing it to a boil, and letting it sit for an hour. After doing this, my kettle looked pristine, with no more ugly deposits. This hack is a keeper.

That Stovetop Needs Cleaning Too
@mama_mila_ Save this video when doing your monthly stovetop deep clean ✨ this method is my go-to and makes cleaning tough grease off the stovetop so much easier + without harsh chemicals. The stovetop is always a challenge. I removed the grates and soaked them in hot water and dish soap. For the burners, I soaked them in a bowl with 1/2 cup baking soda, lemon, and boiling water for an hour. Then, I made a paste of dish soap and baking soda for the stovetop and burner bases. Using a sponge for the stovetop and a toothbrush for the burner bases, I scrubbed everything clean. After rinsing the grates and burners, my stovetop looked fantastic.
Get Rid of That Stink in the Sink
@jillmcfallharris Does your kitchen sink drain stink? Eww… #clean #cleanfreshhype #cleaningvideo #tip #trick #hack #mom #scrubdaddy #safe ♬ Come And Get Your Love – Redbone
My sink drain can get pretty smelly, especially after dealing with seafood. TikTok’s solution was to pour 1 cup of baking soda into the drain, let it sit for 10 minutes, then add a cup of vinegar and wait another 10 minutes. Rinsing it all off with boiling water got rid of the smell entirely. No more stinky drain!
Final Thoughts?
Letting TikTok take over my kitchen deep clean turned out to be a fantastic idea. These hacks not only worked but made the cleaning process much easier and more enjoyable. If you’re looking for effective, budget-friendly cleaning solutions, give these a try.
